Interesting Facts on Charging Electric Cars

There is a lot to learn about electric vehicles as technology continues to advance. Before making the switch to electric, certain drivers may need reassurance that the purchase is worth the expense. Some frequently asked questions can involve the electric cars with the longest range and the ins and outs of charging an electric car.

So, let’s face the facts! Here are just a few of the most important facts about electric vehicles and how portable EV chargers can help.

Fact 1: 4.5% of Road Vehicles Are Electric (UK)

According to the government data from June 2022, there are 1.8 million electric cars in the UK, with this figure continuing to rise. With the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles coming up, many new drivers are switching to electric before prices increase. This is shown in the figures, where the number of fossil-fuelled vehicles is decreasing and being overtaken by either Hybrid or all-electric cars.

And this is only the beginning. According to The Eco Experts’ National Home Energy Survey, 17% of UK citizens intend to buy an electric car in the next year and a further 69% say they’d buy one if money were no object.

Fact 2: The Number of Chargers has Increased by 4,300%

This is most definitely true. The quantity of electric vehicle chargers has grown by 4,300% since 2015. Between 2018 and 2019, the number of EV charging points has increased by 61%; from the beginning of 2019 to the beginning of 2020, it increased by an additional 55%.

However, though this is a positive number and has continued to grow, there are still not enough public chargers per electric vehicle on the road. Public charging stations tend to have only a handful of chargers available, so there is always a chance there will not be enough space by the time you get there. This can lead to many drivers choosing to wait and fearing long journeys (the dreaded “range anxiety”). For this, mobile services should be considered when charging an electric car.

Fact 3: There Are More EV Charge Points Than Petrol Stations

According to the UK Petroleum Industry Association’s 2021 study, the number of EV charge points is currently 28,375, which is more than three times the number number of petrol and diesel stations, which are currently just 8,380.

When it comes to charging an electric car, it has never been easier or more accessible. Many homeowners are choosing to install charge points in their homes. However, for those who do not have enough space or on-street parking, this is not an option. Why not consider using mobile chargers to ensure your vehicle always has the opportunity to charge?
